I usually finish an SEO article in
50-60 minutes; and within these minutes, I do some research, thinking, writing,
re-writing, editing, and mailing the article to my SEO team.
When I say an SEO article, I mean
an article that is 430-490 words long, and which is highly readable. You can be
done with an article (of the same length) in 18-20 minutes, when you just don’t
care about the quality, and what you have been writing about.
A
I worked on my typing speed early
in my career
Early in my writing career, my
senior encouraged me to speed up my typing speed. It was a struggle for a week
or two to type without looking at the key board; but that one or two weeks of
struggle helped me till this day.
I write without looking at the
keyboard, and I write fast; this surprises many, even today.
You won’t take more than a week or
two to type like this; and soon you’ll be typing without looking at the keys,
and writing fast.
B
I write as if I am talking to my
buddy
Writing is a lonely job, but then
you have the ability to imagine, right? When I write, I write for an imaginary
friend of mine. I write as if I am talking to him; this helps me write fast,
and with confidence.
Suppose you’re tasked to write an
article on a keyword ‘Cancer Hospital in Delhi’; now read for 10-15 minutes
about the subject, and then write as if you’re explaining the thing to your
friend.
C
I don’t edit when I am writing; I edit
when I am done writing
I have seen quite a number of SEO content/copy
writers who do writing and editing almost simultaneously; I think this delays
the process. The right way is to write first, and then edit later.
D
Write outline
Now this one gem of a tip for
writing fast. Think what you want to write, and then write an outline. To
writer faster, jot down some sub-headings.
If you’re a new bee in the writing
business, then you should read some books on Grammar and Writing; this will
help you understand Grammar and Writing better, and avoid common mistakes that
most of the beginners (as well as experienced) writers make in their SEO
articles. I’d suggest ‘Elements of Writing’ and ‘Woe Is I’ to get familiar with
the Grammar thing.
